Getting Adjusted

Before chiropractic care is administered, Dr. Peter Lazarnick (Dr. Pete) will consult medical history with the patient and a physical examination will be performed to determine which treatment is appropriate. Chiropractic techniques may include manipulation and adjustments to the spine and are a safe, comfortable and effective method of treatment. Depending on the patient, a treatment plan may involve one or more manual adjustments in which Dr. Pete manipulates the joints, using a controlled force to improve the range and quality of motion. A chiropractic adjustment will involve one of our doctors using their hands to apply a high velocity, short lever arm thrust to a vertebra. Often, patients will feel a sense of relief as the subluxation is released. It should be known that nothing is being cracked, but simply adjusted and put back in place. There are typically no side effects related to chiropractic adjustments though the patient may experience mild soreness afterward. If you have q

Chiropractic Care For Migraines

Dr. Peter Lazarnick (Dr. Pete) performs chiropractic adjustments for migraine sufferers who have yet to find relief. Chiropractic treatment will not cure migraines, but it is one of the few ways to be proactive against migraines and help prevent them.  In someone prone to migraine episodes, a trigger can often be a misalignment, or subluxation of the spine.  Migraines can begin with tension in the neck, but even patients without migraines find keeping their neck free of kinks helps improve frequent headaches. Dysfunctional vertebrae in the neck can cause increased muscle tension and interrupt the nerves that control blood flow to the brain. Chiropractic adjustments relieve the pressure and tension that results in headaches, and keep the spine aligned to help it function at its best. The exact cause of migraines is unknown, but most theories acknowledge an interruption in either nerve activity, blood flow to the brain, or both.  Regular chiropractic adjustments help facilitate healthy b

Preventing "Text Neck"

Dr. Peter Lazarnick (Dr. Pete) and his staff see plenty of patients straining their back and neck by looking down at the screen on their devices.  You may have even heard this being called “text neck”. The average adult head weighs between 10 and 12 pounds, and neck muscles are meant to support the weight of the head in a neutral position.  Looking down at a screen increases the strain on your neck, as if your neck is carrying a lot more weight.  Tilting your head forward just 15 degrees adds enough force to double the weight your neck is supporting, and the greater the angle, the greater strain.  Many people who text with their chin near the neck are tilting the head forward 60 degrees, which increases the load to about 60 pounds! The good news is that you can make smarter choices about using your devices every day to reduce strain on the body. Starting with good posture will always reduce strain on your neck.  Sit up straight with your shoulders lined up above your hips and your head

Arthritis

Arthritis is the Inflammation of one or more joints, causing pain and stiffness. Osteoarthritis is the most common type of arthritis that occurs in the joints of the hips, knees, and spine. However, it can also disturb the fingers, thumb, neck, and large toe. Rheumatoid Arthritis is a chronic disease that causes inflammation of the lining of the joints, and can lead to long-term joint damage which results in chronic pain, loss of function and disability.  Arthritis often occurs if you’re overweight, putting more pressure on your back, knees, and joints by doing rigorous activities. Other Symptoms of arthritis include swelling or stiffness, joins that look red or feels warm to touch, tenderness, trouble moving, and the inability to do daily tasks that patients would otherwise have no issue performing. About 1 in 5 adults have some form of arthritis and the risk of developing arthritis only increases as patients get older. If you are experiencing joint pain, please call us to discuss
