Your First Chiropractic Visit

First-time chiropractic patients are welcome at the practice of Dr. Peter Lazarnick (Dr. Pete).  New chiropractic patients often arrive frustrated, having tried other treatment methods and not found relief from their pain or discomfort.  Chiropractic takes a systemic approach to care, meaning the whole body and the body’s ability to heal itself are considered in every case. This is why your initial consultation and assessment with a chiropractor is especially important.  We will work to understand your goals for treatment, and take a very detailed record of your current condition using a physical exam and sometimes x-rays.  From there, we can form a treatment plan to target any issues and improve overall health. What surprises most new patients is that chiropractic does not incorporate drugs as part of treatment.  Chiropractic focuses on treating the root cause of any pain, rather than masking symptoms with medication.  Whether you are in serious pain or looking to restore your body’s

Hand Manipulation for Back Pain

The most common therapeutic procedure performed by Dr. Peter Lazarnick (Dr. Pete) is known as “spinal manipulation,” also called a “chiropractic adjustment. The object of this treatment is to reduce the subluxation, with the goals of increasing range of motion, reducing nerve irritably and improving function. Adjustments are an excellent way to keep the body functioning at its highest level. Through spinal manipulation, also called manual therapy, Dr. Lazarnick will use his hands to apply a controlled, sudden force to a specific joint. Patients may hear a popping noise, such as when you crack your knuckles, but the end result will leave you pain-free. In addition to spinal manipulation, Dr. Lazarnick uses a unique approach to soft tissue manual therapy that most chiropractors are not trained in. Dr. Lazarnick may also suggest heat therapy, cryotherapy, electrical stimulation, or traction table therapy. If you have questions or concerns regarding chiropractic care or spinal manipulation

Electrical Muscle Stimulation

If you have a spasm in your back or neck muscle, or even in the sciatic nerve, electrical muscle stimulation works well in relaxing the muscle and allowing it to return to its normal state rather quickly. Electrical muscle stimulation devices (EMS) have been shown to safely increase muscle strength, to decrease body weight and body fat, and to improve muscle firmness and tone in healthy individuals. Electrical muscle stimulation therapy consists of a control unit, two lead wires and two to four neurostimulation electrodes. The control unit usually has a timer, pulse width, pulse rate and sensory output knobs. The lead wires connect the control unit and the electrodes and transmit the electric current. The level of electricity administered will be controlled by Dr. Peter Lazarnick (Dr. Pete). Depending on the patient’s pain level, it may be intensified or reduced.
